DALLAS – June 2021 – To formally kick-off its Centennial, the Junior League of Dallas will honor its impressive history and current-day projects with an exhibit at the Hall of State during the 2021 State Fair of Texas, presented by Sewell Automotive Companies. The exhibit will include historical documents, memorabilia and photos to showcase 100 years of JLD’s “Legacy of Leadership, Devotion to Dallas” and the women who made so much happen. Guests can visit the exhibit from September 24 through October 17, 2021.

The JLD began in 1922 with a group of 40 women determined to make a difference. Women had received the right to vote two years prior, but opportunities outside the home were still few. The League provided a place for these women to grow their talents and give back to their city. Today, the JLD is nearly 5,000 women strong. This interactive experience at the Hall of State will allow patrons to see pieces of the League’s incredible history and leadership training from 1922 through present day.

“The Centennial team and our members have been working passionately to bring the history of the League back to life,” said Centennial Co-Chair Andrea Cheek. “There are so many stories to be told, and it has been inspiring to see all of the work the Junior League of Dallas has done around Dallas over the last 100 years.”

The Centennial celebration will kick-off this summer continuing through May 2022, and will include several once-in-a-lifetime events, activities and projects that will showcase the 100-year history of the JLD, celebrate its incredible achievements and developing women leaders, all while continuing to tackle some of the toughest issues and most critical needs in Dallas.

In addition to the exhibit at the Hall of State, Sewell Automotive Companies will serve as the Speaker Sponsor of the Centennial Milestones Luncheon set for Thursday, April 21, 2022, and Presenting Sponsor of the Centennial Gala scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 2022.

“The Sewell’s continued, generous support over the years has allowed the League and our trained volunteers to truly build a better Dallas,” Centennial Co-chair Margo Goodwin said. “We are excited to partner with them on this special exhibit during the State Fair of Texas, as well as these other once-in-a-lifetime events in celebration of the Junior League of Dallas’ Centennial.”
